Vincent Kompany, Benjamin Mendy, Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne come into Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up at Crystal Palace.

When I’m 64…

13:20: OK, Pep didn’t actually say 64 but you get the point.

Pep Guardiola claims he does not have the “special energy” to emulate Roy Hodgson’s lengthy career.

The Manchester City boss may be regarded as the pre-eminent manager of his generation with 25 trophies to his name, but coaching into his 70s, as Hodgson is now, is something he cannot envisage.

“You have to have a special energy and I think at 71 – except Roy Hodgson – the others cannot do it. In my case? No way. It’s impossible,” Guardian said. “Roy Hodgson loves it. It’s incredible. When that happens, it’s because he has the passion in himself.”

Strangers

13:18: Crystal Palace have won just 41 per cent of their Premier League points in home games this season (16/39), the lowest such ratio in the division.

‘Selhurst is tricky’

13:15: Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: “Selhurst Park is always difficult because of the stadium and the quality of the Crystal Palace players.

“Roy Hodgson is an experienced manager who has worked in a lot of different countries, he knows how to handle these situations. Nobody felt he could stay up last season and he did it, and he’s doing the same this season.”

Don’t adjust your tele…

13:10: Sky Sports coverage has just started with a balanced panel of Jamie Redknapp, Graeme Souness, Jamie Carragher and Ashley Cole.

You’ll be shocked to hear this but there’s quite a few backing Liverpool to get the job done against Chelsea today and win the title.

I’m sure they’ll mention Crystal Palace soon…

Twitter round-up

Martin: Feels too much like Déjà vu with the fixtures, the time in the season, the two title challengers! Lightning can’t strike twice… can it?!

Gordon: In a minority I know, but I expect Manchester City to win against Spurs and Manchester United. Two games they should win but could struggle is Crystal Palace and Burnley. Mind you, City have the depth in quality to win all Premier League games. Still favourites for the title.

Ade: I have a terrible feeling that Crystal Palace won’t lose today and Liverpool would smack Chelsea 5-0!

Cohen: I am hoping that Liverpool and Man City lose today so that we have competitive matches to the last day of the season.

Will Liverpool or City blink?

13:00: It is fast approaching crunch time in the most exciting Premier League title race for many a year.

Liverpool hold a two-point lead at the top of the standings after riding their luck to win at Southampton last week, when Manchester City were wrapping up their place in the FA Cup final.

Pep Guardiola’s men have a match in hand as a result and few would expect them to come a cropper at Crystal Palace. Within an hour of that match ending comes the mouth-watering clash between Jurgen Klopp’s side and top-four hopefuls Chelsea. It could prove to be a defining day in the title race.

What’s on

12:55: So much sport going on today. It’s a veritable buffet of action and you have first helpings.

You like the food metaphor? No? OK, I’ll drop it.

We’ve already seen Lewis Hamilton win the China Grand Prix, promotion hopefuls Norwich are in action against Wigan, Liverpool entertain Chelsea in the Premier League and the Masters champion will be crowned.

Whatever your plans – cancel them and vegetate on the couch. Done.

Afternoon

12:50: Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League.

We’re at Selhurst Park today to see whether Crystal Palace can complete a top-flight double over Manchester City for the first time since the 1972-73 season.

Oh… I’ve been reliably informed that’s NOT why we’re here.

We’re actually here to see if Pep Guardiola’s side can break their mini Crystal Palace jinx and restore their one-point advantage over Liverpool – if only for a few hours.

Enough waffle – let’s get started!
