Liverpool news: Luis Suarez encouraging Reds transfer is big blow for West Ham
Celta Vigo striker Gomez is a man in demand and came very close to going West Ham in the January transfer window.
The Hammers were not able to complete a deal for the deadline and were expected to go back in for him in the summer.
However, they face the possibility of missing out on the 22-year-old as The Sun claim Liverpool could now be keen.
Gomez scored 17 goals in La Liga last season and has another nine so far in the current campaign.
He is valued at around £35million and the Reds are known to be looking for a new striker.
With Roberto Firmino out injured and Daniel Sturbridge and Divock Origi struggling for form, manager Jurgen Klopp has been forced to use wingers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as his central striker at times this term.
Klopp is hoping to welcome Firmino back to face Everton in the Merseyside derby today.
Ahead of the game, he said: “He was out there running yesterday, so we have to see how he reacts.
“He is very positive, but it is Bobby’s nature as well, so we have to see.
“I don’t see any other player – OK, maybe we have two or three – who would even be in contention after the problem he had.
“It looks really good but, if he will be ready for Sunday, I don’t know.”
Klopp’s side will go back to the top of the Premier League with a win at Goodison Park.
However, the German is expecting a difficult game and claims Everton will be desperate to halt their title charge.
“The Everton fans don’t want us to win anything and probably for our fans it’s the same,” he said.
“In the game it’s very emotional and passionate, and I hope it’s like that again. That’s how football should be.
“At Goodison they really support their team so let’s go there and use the atmosphere because it will be loud, it will be wild, and we have to deliver on the pitch.”
