Man Utd team news vs PSG: Predicted line up – Nine aces OUT as Solskjaer makes TWO changes
Manchester United travel to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night knowing their hopes of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals hanging by a thread.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side trail Paris Saint-Germain by two goals after Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe struck at Old Trafford in the first leg of the tie last month.
And their chances of progressing to the next stage have not been helped by an injury crisis hitting the Norwegian gaffer’s Manchester United squad.
Already without Paul Pogba through suspension, Solskjaer will not be able to call upon United stars Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial or Jesse Lingard either.
Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia are, likewise, unavailable for the clash against PSG.
Those absences have left Solskjaer with a series of dilemmas as he looks to follow up back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace and Southampton.
Romelu Lukaku was the match-winner in both of those encounters, scoring four goals across the pair of fixtures.
And it is anticipated the Belgian will spearhead the attack as United seek to secure an unlikely away win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Lukaku will probably be partnered by Marcus Rashford, who has recovered from an ankle problem picked up against Liverpool.
Andreas Pereira, fresh from netting a spectacular goal against Southampton, is set to play just off Lukaku and Rashford.
The midfielder will be backed up by Fred, who will be a beneficiary of United’s current injury crisis as the first of two changes from the team which beat Southampton.
At the base of midfield, Fred will line up alongside Scott McTominay and Phil Jones, who is expected to return from illness and effectively take Sanchez’s place.
It’s business as usual for Solskjaer in defence, with Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw attempting to keep Mbappe and co. quiet.
David de Gea will retain his place in goal, with fellow safe pair of hands Sergio Romero available to deputise from the bench if required.
Solskjaer will be reluctant to rush any of his injured stars back with a big Premier League test to come for United on Sunday.
Next up in the top flight is a trip to fellow top-four chasing Arsenal, who United won 3-1 against in the FA Cup fourth round back in January.
Man Utd predicted line up: De Gea, Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Jones, Fred, Pereira, Rashford, Lukaku
