Romelu Lukaku makes worrying Man Utd confession on French radio after Barcelona defeat
Manchester United were downed 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona at Old Trafford.
Luke Shaw’s own goal handed Barca the halfway advantage in the battle to reach the semi-finals.
United burst past PSG in the previous round with a 3-1 win in Paris, which overturned the 2-0 home defeat from the first leg.
And Lukaku conceded Barca are way above the class of PSG – and that Ernesto Valverde’s side caught United out.
“Barcelona is a whole different team, with all the respect that I have for PSG,” Lukaku told French radio station RMC.
“We were admittedly really lucky over there on that night.
“But against Barcelona, it will be much more difficult.
“There was room to play. But this is Barcelona.
“We know that they have quality and that they can make the difference in each moment.
“There is a bit of frustration, but I think that we have the qualities in our team to make the difference over there.
“But we will have to be concentrated throughout the entire match.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba insists the tie is not over.
“We are 1-0 down and now go to the Nou Camp, but we believe chances will come over there,” said Pogba.
“We have to keep believing. It’s a Champions League game and we know we can hurt them as well as they can hurt us.
“Probably Paris will be in their minds for sure, because they saw what we can do against PSG.
“Obviously they will be comfortable on their own pitch but let us see. We’ll see what happens at the end.”
